NI Hospice is absolutely delighted to announce that U105 has officially signed on as the media partner for this year’s Elmer’s Big Belfast Trail!

Elmer’s Big Belfast Trail is a collaboration between Northern Ireland Hospice, Wild in Art, and Andersen Press. The trail will see a herd of over 70 Elmer the Patchwork Elephant sculptures make a splash in the streets of Belfast later this summer. Integral to the main event is the Learning Programme, which invited schools and community youth groups across Northern Ireland to take part in the trail through our Learning Herd and design their own ‘Wee Elmers’. The art trail, which launches on June 20th, marks 21 years of care since the opening of Children’s Hospice.

The partnership has already proven to be elephant-astic with Denise Watson taking up MC at Hospice’s Learning Herd Inspiration Day and also visiting local schools and youth clubs as the team delivered their ‘Wee Elmers’.

Speaking about the partnership, U105 Station Director Peter McVerry said, “U105 and the Northern Ireland Hospice have a long history working together and our listeners and staff have raised more than £1 million to help this wonderful organisation deliver the important services they do.

“We're particularly excited to be able to partner with this creative and unique initiative which spans all age groups, and to support in raising public awareness and interaction with Elmer's Big Belfast Trail this summer."

Mary McCall, Director of Commercial and Brand Development at Northern Ireland Hospice, said, “We are absolutely delighted to have U105 on board as our official media sponsor of Elmer’s Big Belfast Trail! With one of the largest radio audiences in Northern Ireland, U105 will be a massive asset to the trail and a great partner to have on board to spread the word about Elmer coming to Belfast. We’ve worked closely with U105 on lots of campaigns and it has always been a beneficial friendship for both of us.

We’re so excited to bring Elmer to the streets of Belfast in a blast of colour this summer! And we’re looking forward to working with the team to promote the trail and celebrate our 21st birthday in style.”
