Horizon House

Horizon House is our Children’s In-Patient Unit and the only service of its kind in Northern Ireland. We care for children of all ages, from babies to teenagers, who have life-limiting conditions or who require support at the end of their lives.

We offer ‘Supported Short Breaks’, providing care to children with complex medical conditions and their families.

We work with the entire family to make sure they get the best out of their stay with us, and each child has one-to-one care. Depending on the family needs, we can take over care completely, allowing the family to take the opportunity to rest and enjoy the time they have together.

We have 10 beds/cots available in Horizon House, but we do not have the funding for the clinical care needed for each bed.

I’m Coming Home

From September 2018 we were able to offer a dedicated cot for infants and children in Paediatric and Neonatal Intensive Care Units.

This allows children to leave hospital and be cared for 24 hours a day in the family focused environment of the Children’s Hospice or in the child’s own home.

Home environment

As part of this service, we also appointed a Palliative Paediatric Nurse, who provides dedicated support within the Royal Belfast Hospital for Sick Children and the Royal Jubilee Maternity Hospital.
