NI Hospice unveils O’Neills as sponsor of elephant-astic art trail!

Elmer’s Big Belfast Trail, organised by NI Hospice in partnership with Wild in Art and Andersen Press will host a herd of uniquely decorated Elmer sculptures – inspired by David McKee’s beloved children’s books, Elmer the Patchwork Elephant - positioned around key landmarks, streets, and open spaces in Belfast in June 2022.

Each elephant will be painted by a local artist and will create a free art trail across Belfast for 10 weeks, for everyone to enjoy. In addition to the main ‘herd’, a number of smaller Elmers, each one designed by a local school will be displayed in special venues across the city.  Altogether this art trail will guarantee an unforgettable jumbo event.

Elmer’s Big Belfast Trail sees the well-loved local charity mark 21 years of care since it opened the Children’s Hospice at Horizon House in Newtownabbey. O’Neills has now joined the celebration by signing up to sponsor an Elmer elephant, helping raise vital funds for NI Hospice.

Patricia Goldsmith, Director of Sales and Marketing at O'Neills Irish International Sports Company Ltd, said: “They say an elephant never forgets. But by announcing this sponsorship of our very own Elmer, we hope this will be the elephant event that the Belfast public never forgets!

“We’re so excited about working with the NI Hospice once again. This is an amazing milestone for their Children’s Hospice. They have provided much needed care for thousands of children and their families over the years. We are delighted that we can help raise funds for the charity but also bring something so unique and exciting to Belfast.”

Elmer’s Big Belfast Trail sits so well with our values and goals, not only is it a family event, it also highlights the importance of health and wellbeing as well as inclusivity and diversity. I would personally encourage local companies to get involved and help us celebrate the work of Hospice and promote these positive messages this summer.”

Lauren Doherty, Head of Commercial Marketing & Outreach at NI Hospice, said: “Elmer’s Big Belfast Trail is set to be a mammoth success across Belfast and beyond! We’re delighted to have O’Neills on board and are looking forward to working in partnership with them to generate phenomenal levels of engagement and interaction.

“Time is ticking to the start of the Elmer trail – but it’s not too late for other companies to follow O’Neills’ lead and sign-up to be a key part of a long-lasting feel-good event that will delight the whole city.”

There are a limited number of Elmer elephants looking for sponsors and they will be allocated on a first-come first-served basis, so businesses are encouraged to sign up as soon as possible.
