Northern Ireland Children’s Hospice calls on the public to ‘Join the Jingle’

Northern Ireland Children’s Hospice, the only service of its type in Northern Ireland, has officially launched its Jingle All the Way festive fundraising campaign today at Belfast City Hall, hosted by Belfast Lord Mayor, John Finucane.

Northern Ireland Children’s Hospice, the only service of its type in Northern Ireland, has officially launched its Jingle All the Way festive fundraising campaign today at Belfast City Hall, hosted by Belfast Lord Mayor, John Finucane.

The ambitious campaign, now in its third year, aims to raise £500,000 and the Children’s Hospice is calling on businesses, organisations, schools, clubs, churches and individuals to host festive-themed fundraising events in the run up to Christmas to help give the gift of care to local children and their families.

It costs £3.8 million per year to run children’s services, with approximately 35% of these costs met by statutory funding.

Jingle All the Way is a great opportunity to boost local community spirit across Northern Ireland, whilst supporting a great local charity. Various Jingle events have already been planned, including, Jingle Jumper Days, Purple Santa Hat Days, Jingle Coffee Mornings, Jingle Bake Off and the popular Jingle 5K/10K at Stormont Estate on Sunday 8th December.

Speaking at the launch of the event, Mary McCall, Director of Commercial and Brand Development at Northern Ireland Hospice, said: “With a target of over £11 million needing to be raised annually through fundraising and commercial activities, campaigns like ‘Jingle All the Way’ are vital to keeping the Hospice’s services running and we therefore want to encourage everyone to get behind it.

“Through all fun and creative ‘Jingle’ events we can raise vital funds for the Children’s Hospice that will provide specialist palliative nursing care to local children and their families who need it most.

“Last year we were delighted with the response we received to the campaign and this year we hope more people, schools and business will join our Jingle Challenge and smash our fundraising goal of £500,000.”

Belfast Lord Mayor, John Finucane added: “The Jingle all the Way Campaign will provide vital funds to such an important service. NI Children’s Hospice is one of my chosen charity’s and I was lucky to visit their fantastic facility earlier this year to see first-hand the amazing selfless work carried out by the staff and volunteers on a daily basis. The help and support provided for families going through the most difficulty periods of their lives is second to none. I would encourage everyone to get creative with their fundraising and raise as much money as possible for such a worthy charity.”
