Northern Ireland Children’s Hospice has launched its popular Jingle 5k/10k event at Stormont Estate and is calling on people across Northern Ireland to walk, run, jog or wheel their way around the famous venue on Sunday, 8th December in an effort to raise vital funds for the Children’s Hospice.

Last year, over 700 people participated in the festive run and the charity is hoping for an even bigger turn out this year.

The event, which is sponsored by AIB (NI) is part of the Children’s Hospice festive fundraising campaign Jingle All the Way and aims to raise £500,000 to help give the gift of care to local children and their families.

There are three different options to choose from this year, including a Jingle 5k & 10k Blitzen Run (timed) a 5k Rudolph Ramble (not timed) and a Kids Reindeer Dasher (free).

The charity is encouraging participants to don their favourite Christmas fancy dress as they make their way around the festive trek.

Katie Pollock, Head of Fundraising at Northern Ireland Children’s Hospice, said: "We’re delighted to be bringing this popular event back to Stormont for another year. We had a fantastic turn out last year and with the 10k option added, we’re hoping to attract even more runners. We even have a free Kids Reindeer Dash for the kids to enjoy, so come along and support Northern Ireland Children’s Hospice while getting into the Christmas spirit.”

Heather Stewart, Senior Manager, Sales & Service Enablement at AIB (NI) added: “The Jingle 5k/10k at Stormont is a fantastic festive community event for runners and walkers to get involved in.  We’re absolutely delighted to support this amazing initiative which is so crucial in raising vital funds for local children and their families who need it most”.

All Jingle 5k & 10k runners will be gifted with a commemorative medal and a purple Santa hat when they sign up. Q Radio will also be broadcasting live from the event, playing festive tunes and party favourites as participants make their way around the trek.
