Children’s Hospice calls for Tesco Collection volunteers
‘Give a little, help a lot!’ Northern Ireland Children’s Hospice is calling on kind-hearted Christmas elves across the country to volunteer for its Festive Tesco Collection – and all it takes is two hours of your time.
Taking place from Friday 21st to Sunday 23rd November, the annual bucket collection will see NI Hospice teams and volunteers spreading cheer and raising funds in Tesco stores across Northern Ireland (excluding Tesco Express). And the local charity is looking for more local legends to join its crew.

“Can you spare a couple of hours to make a massive difference?” says Michael Nugent, NI Hospice’s Community Outreach Manager. “Whether you’re a first-time volunteer or a seasoned supporter, we’d love you to join us for a shift at this year’s collection, at a time and a Tesco store location that suits you. Your volunteering shift will be time well spent! It’s a great chance to meet new people, socialise, and make a real difference during the festive season.
“Horizon House is the only Children’s Hospice in Northern Ireland, providing life-changing care in its In-Patient Unit and in homes across the country. We rely on the public’s generosity for over 60% of funding for Children’s Hospice. Every penny raised from your volunteering support will go towards the provision of care for vulnerable children and their families with specialist respite, symptom management, and end-of-life palliative care – and you will have lots of festive fun while you’re at it!
“Thank you to Tesco for their support, it is such a vital fundraiser for ensuring the continued delivery of our essential care work. The costs of running Children’s Hospice are increasing and so is demand for our services. Partnerships like this mean that we can be there for families when they need us most. Every Little Helps and we are grateful for every penny collected.”

Angela Elder, the Ballygomartin Tesco store’s Charity Champion, said: “Last year, Tesco customers showed record-breaking generosity, helping raise over £40,000 in just one weekend of bucket collections. Community groups, Tesco’s own Community Champions, and Hospice heroes rallied across 31 of our stores to make magic happen.
“Now, Children’s Hospice needs you again to help keep that spirit alive, as every pound dropped in a bucket helps deliver specialist care and comfort to families who need it most. So this Christmas, give a little time – and help a lot of people.”
