In-Patient Unit

Somerton House, our Hospice for adults, is modern, welcoming and comfortable for patients with specialist palliative needs. We have 18 individual patient bedrooms.

Our multi-professional team of specialists help patients to live well and in comfort as they manage their complex symptoms, as well as any unresolved social, emotional and spiritual issues as they approach the end of life.

Many people often have the perception that Hospice is dark and gloomy.

So, it’s important to us that people understand what hospice care means. Watch our video to find out what it’s really like.

At Hospice we see family and friends as an integral part of our care and support, helping everyone adjust before and after bereavement.

We also support people to leave the Hospice and return home with a comprehensive care package in place that has been developed for the needs of each individual.

Our team includes doctors, nurses, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, social workers, complementary and creative therapists, housekeepers and volunteers. In turn they are supported by our corporate and commercial teams, enabling the In-Patient Unit to focus on our patients and families.
