Northern Ireland Hospice Nurses, Mary Rose Scott and Michele Gordon, are celebrating after raising an impressive £12,215.50 for Northern Ireland Hospice.

Northern Ireland Hospice Nurses, Mary Rose Scott and Michele Gordon, are celebrating after raising an impressive £12,215.50 for Northern Ireland Hospice.

The duo raised the funds by undertaking an eight-day epic cycling challenge in November – cycling from Vietnam to Cambodia, covering a staggering 400 kilometres.

To help reach their fundraising target, the ladies, who are both members of Belfast Ukulele Jam, hosted various events over the past few months. These included busking with the Belfast Ukulele Jam in Belfast City Centre and Tesco, Ballygomartin, a Quiz and 70s/80s Disco Night at Cliftonville Bowling Club and a musical evening in the Duncairn Arts Centre.

Mary Rose Scott said: “We’re absolutely delighted with the amount that we have raised for Northern Ireland Hospice. We would like to thank everyone who donated to our challenge, came along to our fundraisers and supported us through our eight-day cycling challenge. We couldn’t have completed it without your support.

“This amazing donation will enable us to continue to care for local people who need it most in our community”.

Michael Nugent, Regional Fundraiser at Northern Ireland Hospice, added: "We're completely inspired by Mary Rose and Michele’s commitment and enthusiasm to their fundraising. We wouldn't be able to provide local people with specialist palliative care without fundraising events like Mary Rose and Michele’s and we’re so grateful and appreciative for their support”.
