Join the Jingle Run into Christmas to help NI Hospice!

Get on your running shoes, get into the festive spirit and join Northern Ireland Hospice’s Jingle Run to help raise vital funds for the local charity this Christmas.

Get on your running shoes, get into the festive spirit and join Northern Ireland Hospice’s Jingle Run to help raise vital funds for the local charity this Christmas.

This year’s 5k and 10k Jingle Run takes place from 10am on Sunday 4th December at V36 at The Valley Park (beside The Valley Leisure Centre) in Newtownabbey. The event is an important part of NI Hospice’s festive Christmas fundraising campaign.

Launching the 2022 Jingle Run for registration, Shirley Oguz, Head of Communications for NI Hospice, said: “We’re delighted that the Jingle Run is back in-person for the first time since 2019 and we have plans to make it the best Jingle Run yet!

“We’re holding a 5k as well as an Athletics NI-accredited 10k run, alongside our fun Reindeer 1k Dash for kids. If you’re not up for running, feel free to come along and do the 5k or 10k walk. The 5k and 10k race will be chipped timed and all participants will also receive a bespoke Jingle Run medal, a commemorative T-shirt, water bottle and the chance to win prizes on the day.

“O’Neill’s Sportwear has once again partnered with us to offer 50 ‘Jingle Run Jerseys’. All online entrants will be entered into a draw and we’ll announce the winners at the Run. O’Neill’s has also, once again, helped us create our Jingle Club Challenge as part of the Jingle Run. It’s simple: enter a team from your club or organisation and the club that raises the most money for Hospice will win their team kit for free!

“And of course, it wouldn’t be our Jingle Run without the silliest Christmas outfits possible! So why not make it a festive fun run by getting dressed up in Santa costumes, elf and reindeer costumes, or simply your favourite Christmas jumper.

“We are so grateful to the Mayor and everyone at Antrim & Newtownabbey Council for their ongoing support and to the local community for helping Hospice so we can provide the specialist palliative care that is needed by so many across Northern Ireland.”

Alderman Stephen Ross, Mayor of Antrim and Newtownabbey Borough Council, said: “As one of my chosen charities this year I am delighted that Council is supporting the Jingle Run at Valley Park. I think it’s very significant that the run will take place in the park overlooked by Children’s Hospice. It’s a tough time for everyone at the moment but the Hospice relies heavily on the kindness of the community. I hope that this year proves to be the best Jingle Run ever and raises lots of vital funding.”

It’s not just a run, it’s a full family friendly event! U105 will be attending, playing festive tunes and party favourites to get everyone into the Christmas spirit, as participants run the course. You can also have a photo taken with Jingle the Reindeer or take your own in our festive Selfie Corner.

Jingle Runners will want to be quick off the blocks to take advantage of the Early Bird Offer, available until October 31st, to save on their registration fee.

For those who cannot take park in Jingle Run on December 4th, there is also opportunity to take part virtually up until 22nd January 2023.

You can register now as an individual or as a group, by visiting: www.nihospice.org/jinglerun
