Make your Will for free this March with a qualified solicitor

Northern Ireland Hospice and Children’s Hospice has launched its annual Make a Will Month campaign and is giving people the opportunity to make or update their existing Will for free this March with a qualified solicitor.

Over 20 solicitor firms across Northern Ireland are kindly donating their time and expertise to support the campaign, and individuals will be invited to make a discretionary donation to Northern Ireland Hospice and Children’s Hospice, or consider leaving a gift in their Will to Hospice.

Amazingly, over 80% of people in Northern Ireland have not made a Will. Northern Ireland Hospice is aiming to raise vital awareness of the importance of making a Will through this campaign to prevent the sort of issues that can arise when someone does not have a Will in place.

Cathy Warnock, from Edwards & Co Solicitors, Belfast who are taking part in this year’s campaign said: “We are delighted to support Northern Ireland Hospice, a charity close to many people’s hearts during ‘Make a Will’ month.

"During the month of March, if clients instruct us in relation to a straightforward Will we will waive our usual fees and encourage them to make a donation to the Hospice instead. We are delighted to play our part in ensuring that Northern Ireland Hospice can continue to deliver their vital services across the province.”

Mary McCall, Director at Northern Ireland Hospice, said: “Make a Will Month is an ideal opportunity to make or update your existing Will, whilst helping to safeguard the future of Northern Ireland Hospice services.

"Many people delay making a Will because they feel that they’re too young, they don’t have anything valuable to leave or they’re not ready to make important decisions about their future. However, making a Will is one of the important things that you can do to protect you and your loved ones and to ensure that your final wishes will be fulfilled.

"The COVID pandemic has made us all realise how fragile and important life is. I would encourage everyone, however young or old, to make or update their Will throughout Make a Will Month, and consider making a donation to support our vital services”.
