Day Hospice Services
Patients who are being looked after at home and who are well enough to out for at least part of the day can attend Day Hospice in Belfast and Ballymoney It is beneficial for both patients and families,offering care and companionship and a break for families caring at home.
Patients in Day Hospice have the opportunity to consult with and avail of the expertise of the full range of clinical staff in hospice, as well as enjoying the range of therapeutic activities organized by the Day Hospice team.
These include:
- Creative therapies: arts and crafts, creative writing, interactive music therapy, reminiscence therapy, discussion groups.
- Recreational activities: outings to places of local interest, entertainment.
- Educational activities: advice from Citizens Advice Bureau regarding benefits, advice from other statutory services.
- Other activities: quizzes, hairdressing, beauty care, chiropody
We have an excellent team of hospice volunteer drivers who, if required, collect you in the morning and take you home when Day Hospice is over. If getting in and out of a car is difficult, we have a hospice mini-bus to transport you. The mini-bus has a hydraulic lift, so even if you use a wheelchair it is not a problem.
